How Technology Transfer Works with Inventors

Inventors at the University of Delaware create discoveries of great significance to the academic and business communities with benefits to the general public. Our role is to work with UD inventors to bring these breakthrough discoveries to the widest possible audience by:

  • Assessing inventions for commercial potential
  • Where appropriate, securing protection for the inventions, and
  • Working with companies to ensure appropriate development and commercialization of the inventions

Invention Disclosure Review Process

While the cost of prosecuting a patent may be significant, all inventions that are elected for patenting by the commercialization committee are filed at no cost to the inventor. Pursuing patent protection through the Technology Transfer Center presents several unique benefits and opportunities for inventors.
