How Technology Transfer Works with the Private Sector

We work with companies to understand their needs and ensure that licenses are consummated as effectively and efficiently as possible.

An experienced technology transfer professional will work with a representative of the company to showcase the technology of interest and draft appropriate agreements to meet the company’s specific licensing needs.

Some of the agreements most frequently used during the licensing process include:

  • Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDA): This agreement enables the sharing of confidential and sensitive information between parties.
  • Option Agreement: Provides the company rights to evaluate a technology for a limited period of time (option period) during which OEIP keeps open the availability of a license to the company. A standard one-time fee is usually charged.
  • License Agreement: Gives the company rights to use, commercialize and sell products emerging from the technology.
